Wellbeing

Here in Scoil Phádraig we actively strive to address the wellbeing of our pupils & staff, in all four areas outlined in the Wellbeing Policy Statement and Framework for Practice. These four key areas include:

  • Culture & the Environment
  • Curriculum
  • Relationships & Partnerships
  • Policy & Planning

What is Wellbeing?

“Well-being is present when a person realises their potential, is resilient in dealing with the normal stresses of their life, takes care of their physical well-being and has a sense of purpose and belonging to the wider community. It is a fluid way of being and needs nurturing through life.”

WHO 2004

We recently carried out surveys where we welcomed feedback from parents, students & staff alike, on how we could further promote Wellbeing in our school. The results were hugely positive all round. We always welcome your thoughts & ideas on how we can further improve the Wellbeing of our school community, so thank you in advance.

We have a number of current initiatives in our school targeting Wellbeing, which include:

  • Children First
  • Student Council
  • Active Schools’ Committee
  • Green Schools’Committee
  • Wellbeing Club
  • Wellbeing Committee
  • Wellbeing Wednesday/Thursday, at the end of each month. This involves music, games & riddles for students & staff.
  • Wellbeing Week, before Christmas each year, when we run class & school based competitions, promote random acts of kindness, Kahoot Quizzes for the boys, games, puzzles & riddles etc.
  • Special Mention Board ( monthly)
  • Attitude to Gratitude ( monthly)
  • Anti Bullying Week ( end of October)
  • After school clubs
  • Class assemblies
  • Stay Safe
  • RSE
  • Resource hours, social groups & SET
  • Yard games
  • Positive quotes on display in all corridors.

As the mental, physical, spiritual, social & emotional Wellbeing of our school community here in Scoil Phádraig is of utmost importance to us, we always welcome your feedback & ideas in this area. If you require any further information on any of the above, do not hesitate to contact us.

Le meas,
