Support for Students with Additional Needs
Our school is committed to creating an inclusive community that values and supports every student. We offer a variety of resources to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring they can succeed both academically and socially.
- Dedicated Support: We provide targeted assistance in support teacher rooms and our two Special Classes cater to students with more complex special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum.
- Staged Support Approach: We identify students’ needs through observations and assessments, creating personalised plans with specific targets, and collaborate closely with parents and teachers.
- Sensory Room: Our sensory room offers a calming space for students to regulate their sensory input and enhance wellbeing.
- Quiet Space: Room 19 is a designated area for students to refocus and recharge in a calm environment.
- Wellbeing Support: Support teachers help students manage emotions, build resilience, and develop positive relationships.
- Movement Skills Support: We provide targeted support to develop motor skills, including strength, balance, and coordination.
- Reading Recovery: Our Reading Recovery programme offers a short-term, one-on-one early literacy intervention for students struggling with reading and writing, aiming to enhance their reading skills and build their confidence.
This comprehensive support ensures every student receives the care they need to thrive.
