Parents' Association

The Parents’ Association (PA) support the Board of Management and the School in activities for children and parents throughout the year. Becoming involved in these activities can be an excellent way to get to know other parents and find out more about the work of the school.

All parents/ guardians of children attending Scoil Phadraig are welcome to become involved in the Parents’ Association.

The PA Annual General Meeting takes place each year in late September/early October, and all parents are welcome to attend. At the AGM, parents can volunteer to join the PA Committee and Committee officers  (Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, Vice-Chairperson, Vice-Secretary and Vice-Treasurer and Minutes Secretary) are elected. The Officer roles within the Committee are held for 3 years.

PA Committee meetings take place every 4-6 weeks during the school year.

The Scoil Phadraig Parents’ Association also maintain a “Helpers List” – a list of parents who do not participate in the committee but volunteer to provide support from time to time, based on their availability – this could involve baking or helping at school events.

The PA committee organise multiple events and help at school events over the school year.

First Communion Celebration for All 2nd Class boys and families

Each year, the Parents Association host a small celebration for our 2nd class boys and their families following the First Holy Communion masses in the school hall.

Its a lovely tradition, with treats for the boys and tea/coffee and cake for the parents, guardians and grandparents.

We provide a calm space for boys/siblings who might enjoy a quiet space during the party

The gathering is a wonderful opportunity for all the boys – those making their Holy Communion and those who are not – to come together and celebrate as a group.

We invite 1st class parents to help out on the day. It’s a great chance to see how the day runs for your own boys next year.
For 1st Class parents, this is part of the lovely cycle in the school community, whereby next year, when its your turn, other parents will be there to support you and your family in the same way.

What does helping involve?

  • Arriving at either 9.15am (for  9.30am Mass) OR 11.15am ( for  11.30am Mass) – one session only
  • Setting up and tidying tables
  • Preparing and serving tea/coffee to families
  • Distributing drinks and treats to the children
  • Helping with clean-up afterwards

If you are a parent/guardian of a boy in 1st class and would like to help out please email paclanebns@gmail.com
